While employers may feel they are completely transparent with their employees, new research reveals a breakdown in recognition, trust and communication of mission and values
Research from Reward Gateway has revealed that only 19% of employees feel completely informed about their employer’s corporate mission and only 23% of employees feel informed about their company’s values. This is particularly worrying for employers as the study found 83% of employers believe that it is critical for employees to understand their mission in order for the company to be successful.
There is a clear discourse between senior management and employees, as 81% of employers believe their organisation is transparent about how they aim to achieve the company mission but only 22% of employees say they strongly agree that they trust their employer to communicate information openly and honestly.
Recognition is one of the key drivers needed to ingrain employees with a company’s values and corporate mission, however, 40% of employees don’t agree that their employer recognises them when they demonstrate the values their company cares about. Previous research from Reward Gateway, also revealed that 59% of employees would rather work for a company with a culture where they received recognition over a higher salary job where they didn’t get any recognition.

The study also revealed that 90% of employees who would recommend their employer to a friend or peer as a place to work also say they trust their organisation to communicate transparently and agree that their employer recognises them when they demonstrate the values their company cares about most.
