Aegon UK has appointed Ian Pittaway as the chair of its independent governance committee.
Pittaway is chairman of the Association of Professional Pension Trustees and an independent trustee. He is also senior partner of specialist pensions law firm Sackers.
”IGCs are a helpful addition to the world of workplace pensions. I am looking forward to using my experience of trust based schemes to help Aegon’s IGC improve outcomes for their members,” said Pittaway.
Angela Seymour-Jackson, managing director of workplace solutions at Aegon UK, commented: “Good governance practice already exists within much of the pension provider community but from April the IGC will focus entirely on our customers, which is key to improving trust.
“Once in place, our IGC will assess the value for money of workplace personal pension schemes on an ongoing basis, and act as a customer advocate for workplace personal pension scheme members.”
